When I was a year four biomedical student, these illustrations were part of my senior project topic, "Role of Lipid binding protein 

 Niemann-Pick Type C-2 (NPC2) in Sperm Capacitation of freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii".

My initial idea was to make my illustrations for the biomedical conference. It was my first time making scientific illustrations and presenting them at a meeting.   

 

Firstly, I made a 2D illustration of the prawn. I wanted to emphasise the location of testis sperm and vas deferens sperm of the freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii.

Then, I made 2D illustration of the prawn's sperm and the lab protocol.

After I self-studied with the Blender program, I applied the knowledge of making 3D models to improve my senior project and presentation for the biomedical conference, which resulted in a satisfactory outcome. I found that beautiful illustrations could grasp the audience's attention. It caught me more attention in presenting biomedical knowledge in 3D visualisation.
