Why do we need to concern?

Alzheimer's disease affects more than 46. 8 million people globally. The number is expected to increase twice every 20 years, so in 2030 the number will reach 75 million and in 2050 the number will reach approximately 131.5 million.

Caregivers Stress and Burden

Dementia affects the quality of life of the patient directly. In addition, carers and other people who take care of the patient can also be greatly impacted because of the stress and burden of caregiving.

As the lifespan and number of Alzheimer’s patients increase, that consequently affects caregivers and families financially and emotionally. Most Alzheimer’s patients who live at home are cared for by their family member (child or spouse), an informal caregiver. Caregivers handle the burden of care, and studies have shown that the caregiver burden is relative to caregivers’ quality of life. In addition, the burden increases as the disease processes, the more complex care is required.

Promoting healthcare education can improve patients’ health outcomes and care management. Understanding the disease and how to take care of the patient can increase the quality of life of caregivers and people with Alzheimer’s.
